stagejuice constructs image-based performance
stagejuice is a Sydney-based group who fuse live performance, video, visual media, sound and installation to investigate social and personal issues in imaginative and abstract ways. We devise performance through collaboration, investigating and experimenting. We use body, image, words, technology, objects, light, sound and illustration to create visually striking and sensual interactions between live performer, technology and space. We share a range of skills in actor training, voice, physical theatre, dance, composition, sound engineering, photography, video making and illustration. Our current fascinations are with shadows and diffusions, altering perspectives, interactions with strangers, simple pleasures and spaces inside spaces. The outcome, our physicalisation and aesthetic, is typically filled with abstract beauty, evocative imagery and dynamic rhythm.
stagejuice formed in 2006 led by Katy Green as Artistic Director. Our works include in the shadows, which enjoyed a sell-out season (PACT Theatre, 2009), ball (Liveworks at Performance Space, 2008), and dancing with… (Quarterbred Festival at PACT, 2007).
