in the shadows

Come into our world. Bring your own reality.

Our senses illuminate, transform or displace reality. When completely fixed on that reality the world closes in on us. if we cannot perceive beyond our senses, the reach of experience quickly trails off into the shadows of delusion, anxiety and ignorance.

in the shadows is a game between reality and perception.

ball

How can one misinterpreted event create an absolute abstraction of one’s experience?

ball is a short dance work that explores delusion in a positive light. Too often mental illness is examined negatively. We wanted to share the world that is gained rather than the reality that is lost when one experiences a delusion. We fused contemporary dance, stunning imagery and original sound to explore the nature of delusion.

ball was the first development stage of our major work, in the shadows.

dancing with... the pleasure of dancing with someone alone

dancing with... is a redevelopment of the work from 2006. It is an intimate exploration of presence and absence, body and mind. It is a challenge for the memory and imagination to make real the connection between two people no longer in physical contact.

dancing with...

To touch…
To be close…
To connect with.

dancing with... explores affection and comfort in personal, intimate relationships. The performers indulge in a dance with an 'absent other' (someone who is not physically present at the time), sharing intricate and emotional moments and exploring the dependance of touch in these relationships. The audience is encouraged to embrace this piece as a duo, to look for the 'absent other', to identify who they are and how they moved the dancers.

dancing with... is the pleasure of dancing with someone, alone.
